So I finally had time to investigate the rattle coming from my rebels and it turns out the baffle, which is only bolted at the back end, rattles inside the pipe. I'm thinking of taking them both off. Any one know of any consequences besides more noise?
Well Lordy Lordy the resident sporty professor is here. Damn, well if an internet forum population thinks that then I guess I shouldn't think for myself.
Do you have experience with anything you post about?
I guess if we searched about the NHRS conversion we might get the same impression.........
What in the hell are you talking about???? Freebird simply posted what other people had to say about those pipes, and supported it by telling the guy to use the search function to verify his statement. So make all of your own decisions and don't ever take anybody's advice, that's your prerogative, but why all the smart assed comments about Freebird?
Back on topic, I have the slash cut hooker troublemakers and I had the same rattling problem. Turns out that the clamp was loose, the flange that the actual pipe clamped to was loose and part of the heatshield broke off with it! I tack welded it best we could but they leak like a mother! One of the best looking pipes IMO but aren't constructed worth a damn. Im gonna check out the Freedom Performance Independence exhaust next.
I love the pipes.. they look great! but the issue I had was with that super flimsy cheap split washer that retains the header clamp to cylinder... I took the solid steel one from my original sportster and chunked the super light soft metal ones that came with pipes... they would just squish up and bend inside the rather loose fitting clamp piece... once I made that change BAM! went right in nice and snugly no issues!
