Hello all. Ha a question. I have a 04 sporty cust. 883. Bikes been sitting for 2 years due to breaking my leg. Ready to get back on it but realized i need a new carb. just looking on opinions on what type. Do i just get stock replacement? Mikuni? Any suggestions or advice would be really helpful. Thanks.
First off, why do you need a new carb????? What happened to the original one??
But anyways the stock keihin carb is a good carb when tuned properly. Mikunis are a great carb that offer more selective tuning, and are overall a much more responsive carb and that throttle response is what mikuni's are most well known for. But overall power available from either carb is about the same when tuned properly. I switched to a mikuni a few years ago and love it. If money is tight, just get a stock keihin, they can be had pretty cheaply on ebay. And if you have the cash, a mikuni is worth every penny.......I got a good deal on mine for $180 brand new on ebay.
Wow! Thanks for the info. Well to be honest the carb issue was my fault. Was putting in new jest and snapped the tube in the carb. Sorry i cant explain it so well as I dont really know the actual part name. When i went to Harley and explained what happened he knew what i was talking about and said its done you need a new carb. Ive been trying to find a carb on ebay. I dont really see one that would be right for my bike. But ill keep looking. Thanks for the info.
