Default Newbe needs help

hi all i will get right to the point: wife want to by me a nightster 1200 for our 25th wedding aniv.all because i made the remark that i wouldnt mind haveing one, problem is i weight 250 lbs and she weights maybe 130lbs,but she said that she wont be rideing with me that much and if we do go anywhere it might be about 100 mile round trip if that. and the saleman even said i should get a bigger model but they are OUT of her price range. were not really die hard riders(NOT YET) but i do like to ride.I tryed talking to her about it waiting till we can afford bigger but she is being really persistant about the nightster??should i flat out tell her NO that it would be a waste of money cause the bikes not big enough or am i just being ridiculous as she puts it.

I wouldn't complain if someone was going to buy me a nightster. It will haul your *** no problem. Sounds like she doesn't necessarily want to ride with you, she just wants to get you a bad *** present for your anniversary. Take the bike, put a solo seat on it and avoid the problem. Then when you can afford it get a bigger bike or one for her

Maybe you need to be looking at a nice older fullsize used model. Don't look at the dealer you will get screwed there on a used bike.
If you are talking about a Nightster they are $10,000 and you can find a lot of used low mileage Harleys in that range, especially Dyna's and Softails.

Do a search on Ebay for Harleys.

I saw a 2003 Soft Tail Night Train with 1,380 miles on it, I'll bet ten grand could buy it, and it is all but a new bike with 1,380 miles on it.

I got my sporty due to finances also. I am 6' and was 245# at the time(i've dropped a few lbs since) . No problems with the ride, even 2 up. HD is now offering guaranteed full purchase price back in a year if you trade up to a larger model. You cant go wrong with that. Get the bike now and if you find it uncomfortable later you can trade up. For 2 up riding you will likely want a better seat than stock. I got a mustang and it has 3x the padding. The stocker wasn't bad for me but she couldn't ride more than 30 min on it.
