I just bought a 2005 883C for my wife. Only has 5K miles. In great condition. I just can't get the fork lock to engage. The cylinder will not rotate. Any help is welcome. Thanks.
Well, I'd say you've got 1 of 3 things going on. Either the lock cylinder is broken, the locking pin isn't lining up with the hole in the neck, or the previous owner replaced the cylinder and the ignition key wasn't matched to the new fork lock cylinder.
Sorry for the apparent dumb first question, but I learned a long time ago to always ask a computer customer that called and said his system wouldn't turn on, whether or not it was plugged in.
... or the previous owner replaced the cylinder and the ignition key wasn't matched to the new fork lock cylinder.
Or, they replaced the ignition switch. You can verify the key code on the key. Pull the black plastic cover off the top of the key. There will be a 3 or 4 letter/number code stamped on the key. Call your local dealer and give them your VIN. They'll be able to check your key code on the dealerships HD.net.
