Default Primary Chain adjustment

Is there a trick to getting the primary chain "just right? I have the manual and have read and re-read the procedure, but it seems like I never can get it quite on point, and there is a wery fine line adjustment wise between too tight and too lose for my bike.

Any tips, tricks and insight greatly appreciated.

How about putting an Hayden M6 auto adjuster on and never worry again? It'll take all of the slop out and your shifting will improve.

I didn't know such a device existed, but it sounds cool. I'm all into less wrench time and more riding time these days. I'll have to check it out, thanks

If you go to the xlforum, someone has posted a procedure for doing the primary adjustment that I tried and it seemed to work fine.
