I just bought an 07 883L , will get pictures up soon, but i need some ideas, my cousin has a 1200C and he can leave me everytime and i need something to give me a lil edge to sta up with him, i have Python slip on exhaust and the stage 1 air cleaner added on and i also did the stage 1 ECM download.....if anyone has anymore add-on ideas please let me know
+1 - There is nothing at all wrong with an 883, but his has 1/3 more motor than you do. Nothing is going to fix that but more cubic inches (or in this case cc's).
There's three options, as always, more air/fuel (forced induction), bump the compression, and add size. We have no magic to offer you. A strong, non-HD parts, 1200 build would blow away a stock 1200.

But by general rule that a converted 883 has more power than a stock 1200. With the conversion you can up the compression for the same price. Plus it will be geared lower, (its Achilles heal against the 1200). Now change the heads and pick a stage and cams. lol
You can do a pretty cheap, good 1200 build using Buell or other after-market parts. It really depends what you're looking for. I'm used to thinking about the Revo engine, and for us, after a "stage 1" it's the best bang for the buck (after Nos, which of course becomes more expensive as you refile the bottles). About $5k, and almost +50% hp, but for us, BB have pretty marginal gains, where a "fast" sporster is anything 90hp+, which you could probably get with the right BB build, and then you could always turbo that for more... that's what I would do personally, with a sporty, is get it 12-1300cc with a non-HD/SE kit, bump the compression, and see if you're happy. I've seen some mean 1205, 1250 and 1300 builds.
thanks everyone this has given me alot to think about, i think im going to go for a higher compression and maybe more air/fuel delivery, but if anyone comes up with anything else feel free to say it
