Hi everyone, since seat choice is a common topic around these parts i thoguht we could give some of the nitty grittys in this thread.
Maybe post up what seat you have what you like and dont like and your type of riding.
Then post up your Hieght and size, since most seats are designed for either taller or shorter riders.
If we get some good info maybe we can get this sucker stickied!
I'll start...
Stock 06 seat, dont like it too much because it makes me feel like I'm sitting on top of the bike instead of with the bike.
I'm 6'3" and having a hard time picking something, looking at the Gunfighter and Lady seat or the Badlander in leather.
Oh and im string bean skinny
I have the Mustang vintage solo seat but not the wide one. It is comfy but the cushion is thicker than the stock seat so it raised me up about another inch higher. That is the only complaint I have about it. Like someone else said about another seat, it kinda makes you feel like you are sitting on top of the bike instead of "in" the bike if that makes sense.
I don't know of any other seat that will set you lower and put you more "into" the bike than on it. Most after market seats are designed to be more comfortable which equals more padding which means you'll set higher than you do now! Will that accomplish what you want?
I have a 05 1200 C and feel I'm lucky. The factory seat fits me just fine. I've had a couple 10 hour days on the bike and it's not been a problem.
I'm still using the stock seat on my 06 XL1200C. I have no complaints about it but my girlfriend does not like the passenger part of the seat. She wants a new seat for when we ride together. I'm looking at the Sundowner and the Pillow-Look, both from HD.
These guys make some awesome custom seats for all Harleys. They are reasonably priced and to me, much more comfortable than the mass produced Mustangs and Corbins. Check them out:
5'8" tall, inseam about 29"...so I'm short! Anyway, as usual the stock seat sucked so I got a Sundowner (for the $$ is a great seat). I can still touch the ground but find that it sits me up a little higher so am going to the 12.5" Progressives from the stock 13.5" on my '03 XLH883 and this should help.
