Default How Much $

Looking at buying my first bike it is a used stock Nightster. I want to put V@H sideshots on it. How much is it going to cost me to put the pipes plus anything else necessary such as tuner, stage 1 etc. ? Let me know what set up works best with these pipes.

Thanks

Pipes about $400. You can just do the pipes and you would be ok... If you were to also change to a performance air cleaner then you would need a tuner of some sort... Probably $200+ for a performance air cleaner and $300 for a power commander, little less for a V&H fuel pak.

So.... $400 if you just want to change how the bike sounds, and it will sound great... If you are looking for a performance increase then $900 (at best).

Welcome to hundreds of dollars forum!

For starters I just want to get the bike to sounding good. Not to worried about performance at this time since its my first ride. Every dealer that I have talked to said that if I am going to put different pipes on, I have to put a stage 1 kit in and also a tuner. This is not true? Are they trying to get me to spend extra money?

Not an expert by any means - I just bought my first harley a month ago 2007 1200R - I was a winger - it had slip on drags(cycle shack) with baffles on it when I bought it. Bike was constantly popping and back firing - running lean and cutting out. Bought used stock pipes put those on and bike ran much better - thought maybee it was bad gas so I put drags back on and same problems again. Back to stock. Talked to 3 local dealers service deptartments and got 3 different responses, I'm going with the "anytime you change air flow in or out you should go all the way with stage one". $$$
