08 883 custom. I have some Rinehart slip ons, the stage i aircleaner and the SERT. I want to install the slip ons and a/c myself. How easy is it? I would also like to install the slip ons first and was wondering will I be O K without a download. I know once the a/c is installed I will need a d/l. I will install the a/c the day before the sert install. $250.00 for the sert setup sound right? Any tips or tricks for getting off the old mufflers or installing the new ones and a/c. New gaskets??
I am ready for the 5000 mile check. Better off doing it myself?? I can change oil, tranny oil etc. Do the dealers really do everything that is listed? Thanks rich
Not to be a dbag, but these questions have been answered a gazillion times on here, try using the search function to answer these type of (noob) questions.
But, to answer. Slip ons are easy, might need to wrestle a bit to get the old ones off, try a rubber mallet. Make sure to get new mounting clamps, they are designed by harley to be discarded (go figure). Slip-ons with no SERT, should be fine here, might run a tad lean, but no big deal. A/C install is also easy, but as you know, you definatley want to do your SERT before putting any milage on your bike at this point because your air/fuel ratio will be way lean. Make sure you torque everything to the specs, a buddy of mine put some slip-ons on his dyna and they fell off on the highway (DOH!) Oil change, so easy a caveman...
Really though, once you start wrenching on your bike your going to be finding excuses to get the tools out. Have fun and ride safe!
