I just installed a new pair of handgrips on my sporty. I had to finish using a flashlight as it got dark. I used the Chrome and rubber large grips. I did the left one first as practice and then I did the r/h one. I didn't loosen the cables as I was hoping to avoid needing to readjust them again. If I tighten the top screw on the housing, the throttle will not snap back fully closed when I release it. If I loosen it 1/2 turn then it snaps back fully. Needless to say this is a concern lol.
Did I miss something? Has anyone else had this problem? I plan on looking at it again in the morning when I get more light and then also tryign to fidn it int he service manual.
make sure your wires aren't in the way. I would take the switch housing apart again and make sure nothing is out of place.... Happened to me once. and be careful of that brake light switch.
Try adjusting the rotation of the grip on the bar, slightly forward, or slightly backwards. Sometimes if its a little tight, the grip won't snap back.
i put a set of the kury iso grips on and found that the throttle grip dragged during rotation, took them back to the dealer and made them try the grip and a set of bars from the backroom, they grabbed another set of grips and the grip spun freely...it is possible that your grip cured wrong after it was made, take them back and swap for another pair, and make them slip the new grip on a set of bars and verify they spin freely before leaving.
