ive got a head scratcher
i just got a 08 xl 883, i think, it has an 883 air cleaner but the emission sticker on the frame says its a xl 1200? the vin # 1hd4cn2198k and the rest matches the engin, is there any way to tell the differance whith out pulling the head and micing the bore?

Here is the breakdown on your VIN...
1 = Market designation... to be sold in the United States.
HD = Self explanatory.
4 = middleweight motorcycle
CN = XL 883 sportster
2 = Evolution 883 CC air cooled fuel injection
1 = Introduction date=regular
9 = VIN check digit.
8 = 2008
K = Where made Kansas city, Mo.
