Get a new washer for the fuel pump. It's cheap. Use the service manual, it's easy. Drain or siphon as much gas out of the tank as you can if you're going to swap the old fuel pump in the new tank. Stick a towel or rag under the fuel release valve so you don't get gas on the engine. You need to tilt the fuel pump sideways as you ease it out of the tank and vise-versa.
