I just got home yesterday from my Ohio to MD trip on my 02 883 C. Awesome time, great scenery. I rode it alone that made the trip fun because you are forced to meet new people not just talk to ones you already know. Total right at 400 Mi each way, I tried to stop every 100 mi for some water and a strech on the way home. Going there, I rode much longer between stops and arrived dehydrated and tired. The hot afternoon sun and wind will dry you out quick. Took right at 8 hrs. My advice is start early in the day and get your miles in early. I rolled into DC around 3pm and the temp was 97. I hit construction and was moving about 5MPH so I took off my helmet and learned the hard way that Va has a helmet law. No ticket just a stern talking too.

About 500 miles round trip one weekend. Nothing too bad except for the highway riding and the heavy traffic. I'm so looking forward to some way longer trips.

From Rochester, NY to Lake Placid was the longest. My back killed me BIG time when I was riidng on a 2002 Sporty XL1200C with Low Profile LePera seats with 240 Rear Wide Tire. Still have the awesome bike, but I moved on to Road King Classic. Truly loved the bike BIG time. However, I still have a place in my heart for my Sporty.[8D]

Son and I and a buddy of his that has a 1200C like his went to Sturgis last year 3450 miles round trip. And they were on the stock seats. Son has sent put a Sundowner on his. Last weekend we rode out to Big Bend park(hot hot) and then up thru the Davis mountains(cool) and back home 1493 miles I think. With a different seat on it its a better ride.

I think much of the comfort (or discomfort) when riding any bike with the stock seat has a lot to do with the physical build of each individual person.

I'm a little over 6'1" and have a 42" chest, but I taper down to a 33" waist, pretty narrow hips, and not too much "built in padding" in the seat area, or should I say, the part that sits on the seat.

I find the stock seat on my '05 1200C very comfortable, even on long trips.

But a friend of mine that is larger (especially in the middle, hips, and rear area) finds the stock seats on my Sportster, my FXDWG, and just about every other Harley to be very uncomfortable and has to go with aftermarket products. I believe he wears a size 38 in jeans, and I keep telling him to start working out and 'loose the gut', but he just snarls and won't listen. LoL

Rode from Chatham Ontario to Charleston Ontario and back to Chatham in one day. Charleston is located north of Kingston towards Smiths Falls. It took me fifteen hours. It was about 750 miles. No aches or pains, just an awesome ride.

Ok... just got back... Rode my 883 a total of 2408 miles in less than 2 weeks... Rode from Kentucky to Myrtle Beach then to Charleston, and back to Myrtle Beach. Then rode to Washngton (To see the new nephew..unexpected at the time we went.. and then back to Myrtle Beach and back through the Smokey Mountains and back to Kentucky... Then 2 days later we went to the Natural Bridge here in Kentucky... sometimes I think we're nuts.. oh man... my a@* got sore at times.. Loved the scenery but all's well.
