Different gas tank
Hi all! I have a 2008 XL883. It has the stock 3.8 gas tank. I want to put a 4.5 gal tank on. Does the 4.5 tank on the 883 custom fit on the Xl883? If so - does anyone know where to look for one? The local Harley dealer told me it wouldn't work. Said the frame was different! I don't see how that can be! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Yes it will fit, but then chances are, your seat may not, since the bigger tank is longer and will likely run into the front of the seat. You will likely have to have a seat that fits the C model.

yeah agree with charley on this one, i switched my custom tank out for a penut a while back (mine is an 04) just make sure you get an EFI tank when ya do. if yr seat doesn't end up fittin shoot me a pm, i got one you can have

FYI - you know that 04-06 and 07-09 seats aren't compatible, right? 07-09 seats are modified to accommodate the ECM.

I put an 06c tank on my 05r. The tank bolted right on but I had to cut about an inch and a half of the foam off the seat.No big deal just pulled the staples out cut foam with scissors then re-stapled seat cover back down
