Default tires

Hello, Just me again this web site is so nice, every one here is very helpfull. Got a question I have a 2006 1200C sportster with over 6,500 miles already. Love it and cant get enough. It gets in the blood and wont go away. Any ways how long do the tires last on harleys. First motercycle so not sure. They still look great and not worn too much that I can tell. My other question is wht would be a upgrade for a tire when it comes time to buying new ones. Thank you every one and ride safe.

It's hard to tell you how long a set of stock Dunlop's will last because a lot depends on how you ride, in what kind of weather you ride, and how much of your riding is local or long distance. I also am still on my original tires, but previous bikes I've had have given me 9K - 18K to a set of tires. When my originals need replacing I'll be putting on the Metzler 880 Marathons. They are the longest wearing tire I've ever owned without sacrificing good grip on dry and wet pavement.

I'm a big fan of the 'stock Dunlop tires', and have tried others but keep coming back to them.

The folks I ride with are out there in all kinds of weather, hot and dry, cold and wet, and everything in between. Never had a problem with the Dunlop's, and the wet/dry traction has never been a problem.

Unless you ride to extremes you should get at least 10,000 miles out of the tires. Just keep them inflated correctly (don't run too low of a pressure).

Most people don't ride more than 10,000 miles a year, so changing your tires every year to year and a half isn't that big of a deal. I'm a firm believer in keeping good tires on a bike and not trying to squeeze as many miles as possible out of them.

On Harleys with the 21" front wheel, such as my WideGlide and 1200C, I normally run 36 pounds of pressure, and I keep the rear tire at about 42 pounds.
