perfect, buddy with an iron 883 had the dealership do it and we were both there while they did, didnt take too incredibly long and the transmission wasnt even touched, same gearing and all, one thing he has noticed though is that it is a "slight" bit harder to click it up and down, not that if he bought it that way that he would notice but for some reason it is just a smidge bit harder to click up and down, totally worth it though
what did the dealer ask for the conversion? The 883 bumped to the 1200 should really jump after looking at the difference in the trans ratio's compared to the 1200's!
If you convert an 883 to 1200 how does the 883 trans gearing work out for you?
When I did the conversion on the daughters bike I Installed a smaller front gear (belt drive). Could still feel the extra displacement but gave the bike little bit longer legs.
I'm an idiot. What I meant was a larger gear.

Reason: mistake
I just conveeted my 09' IRON from an 883 to a 1200 and absolutely love it! It's really has a nice kick off the line and kicks a$$ even at the top end. I have about 850 miles on my new kit and it is loosening up and gaining morepower by the mile. I went witht he Screamin'Eagle kit w/ air cleaner.

Usually it's a taller gear in front that gives the bike longer legs. If I change out my front 27 tooth to a 29 tooth I'll lower the RPM's about 600.

we bought the wife's Iron with the swap, I like it and it scares her.......it must be good. I have also ridden a buddy's Nightster, the gearing of the Iron gives it a little more snap off the line for sure
Parts list at 1200, I don't remember what the quote was, but we got an Iron with the 1200 swap and forward controls for less than we would have gotten a Nightster
