Default Question about changing pipes

I am somewhat new, so if this has been covered I apologize. I was thinking about putting V&H Short Shots on my 06 883L. My question is this, what else do I need to consider if I make this change? Do I have to get a new airfilter and rejet the carb?

Thanks

That is the age old question on the forum. You can search and find many discussions on this topic. Most people say that if you ONLY do pipes that you do not need to re-jet the carb. Once you install a new air cleaner, then you will need a re-jet.

You may also want to consider the quiet baffles. Those short shots are nice...but LOUD. The qb's will bring the decibles down only slightly and will make the tone just a little deeper. Don't worry...they'll still be plenty loud!

Monkey see monkey do! What is it? Are those cheapest pipes out there or something?

Only if you want to unleash the hidden power that's available by doing so.

True that you will get more power if you change the air cleaner, and re-jet the carb, but just for better sound. Pipes is all you need. I first just installed pipes on my 06 883L and it was fine. I ran it that way for about 4,000 miles, then upgraded the air cleaner and did the carb work.

The rule of thumb as stated above is just pipes...no need for anything else. If you change the air filter you need to add an EFI tuning module...
