You can leave the mid control pegs on and add forward controls. You would just remove the levers to be replaced by different linkages. Some times there are things to modify if the old peg blocks part of the new lever.
Agree with outdoorgirl57 .What a handle by the way. I put the frame mounted on my sporty and love the way they look and feel. Also why ask for trouble calling engine guards CRASH BARS .LOL
When I brought my sporty it had these rather cheap crash bars (engine guard ..no bar karma for me)....
Anyway I took them off and I like the cleaner look. Yeah I had highway pegs on them but I rarely used
them even on long trips. I also have tassels on the levers and will be taking them off as well. Now I am
really going to have to consider the windshield as it is nice to have when the weather gets colder.
Yes you can get them that work with forward controls. I just bought a used one from a friend who had mids, and it works fine with my forwards. I've got the HD saddle bags so the lean look of the bike is out anyway. It actually looks pretty cool. I'll snap some pics here one of these days.
PERSONALLY IM NOT A BIG FAN OF THEM, I LIKE THE STREAM LINE LOOKS OF THE BIKES WITHOUT THEM. THEY ALSO ALLOW PROTECTION IFYOU ARE TO TIP OF OVER EVER. ITS ALL A PERSONAL PREFERENCE.
