Sputtering in 5th gear
i have a 2007 883 Sportster with EFI and i was running down the freeway passing a semi in 5th gear when i got up to about 80 and it felt like i wasnt getting any juice at all so i tried again and it sputtered a little. when i got around the truck and got back down to about 70 it stopped and i was fine. ironically i was just getting of my off ramp to get some fuel because my light had been on for about 30 miles. im wondering if it was just because i was almost sucking fumes or if anybody else has ever had this problem before as well. i have already riden it up to about 80 again to pass with a full tank of fuel and the bike ran like a top.

You have really answered your own question. If you ran about 30 miles with the low fuel light on, you must have really been near to empty and I have had that same kind if surging happen to me when I am running at high speed (80 -90 MPH) when I am really low on fuel too! It sounds to me like everything is just fine with your bike. Enjoy it and ride safe out there! Sportsters rule!
