Just wording a previous post a little different so that I could get some more bites - Anyone ever have a bank angle sesor go bad on them without tipping or leaning the bike??? -My bike died on me and that ended up being the problem - STRANGE-, BUT they cut it open just to peak inside and there was a circut board in it so I suppose if it is electrical, it can be prone to faliure -Sorry to bug you guys about this again, but the hows and whys of this problem gots me vury cornfused!!! -Gary
From what I can gather the BAS is an internal part of the turn signal module on the Sportsters.
It is suppose to automatically shut off the engine if the bike tilts more than 45 degrees for longer than one second, even if the bike isn't moving.
To reset the BAS you are suppose to get the bike in an upright position, turn the ignition switch off, then on, and then use normal procedures to 'fire it up'.
I've never heard of one going bad, but like any other electrical sensor I'm sure they can fail at the worst possible time....
PLEASE NOTE RESETTING THIS BY SWITCHING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF IS NOT THE SAME THING AS TURNING THE BIKE ON AND OFF WITH THE KEY

HELLO TURNING THE "KEY" OFF AND ON IS NOT THE SAME THING AS TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND ON

I had one go bad some years ago. A poster on this site steered me in the right direction and I replaced it with a used one off flea bay. The dam engine would mis-fire with every bump in the road. The only code that came up was 'turn-signal-module', and all my turn signals worked just fine.
