Default Brake Light Problems...HELP

I recently replaced the left rear blinker on my 09 Nightster because it was blown. Now I do not have brake lights on my bike?? The blinkers work fine and the running lights (rear) work fine, but I got no Brake lights.

Please Help...

Thanks in advance.

check and see if its with the hand break, foot break.. both.. if its with one or the other then its an issue with a switch or wire to that switch.. if its both then it could be a loose connection to a relay or issue with the bulb you put in.. check to make sure its the same as the other one..

Hey CJ, Did you ever figure out the problem?

Same thing happened to me, bought a new bulb, and the Brake light is still out. Running/Turn Signals work fine though. . . . ?

Well the brake light shares the same power source as the turn signals....so it isn't power from the fuse block. As mentioned before....did you try both brakes? If both brakes don't work than the problem is from the connector under the seat to the lights.

There is two places I would check....under the seat where there is a 6-wire black connector (has blue, red/yellow, violet, brown, orange/white and black wires). Make sure the red/yellow wire is fully pressed into both sides of the connectors. Also, under the rear fender, ..make sure the wires have not been rubbed by the tire.

Thanks Cosmo.

Pulled off the seat and jiggled some wires, discovered that the connection for my left rear light assembly was loose. For my 09, there are two separate 3 wire connectors instead of 6. Each one is black/violet/blue. Gonna throw some electrical tape on it right now to keep'em from rattling loose.

Thanks again for your insight. Its guys like you paying it forward and keeping us movin. Rock on...

The (2) 3-wire connectors are the output of your N's brake/turn/run module....the 6-wire connector plugs into the input side of the brake/turn/run module for future reference.

Glad you found the problem and thanks for letting us know what the solution was!
