I'm trying to relocate a boatload of **** to make this spring seat install work. My main wiring harness, my ecm and my pcIII (i know major fvcken PITA). Here's my question, can I remove it if I have a stage II ness on there w/ V&H sideshots? Can I just do a new download to the ecm itself and get rid of the power cmndr. and would it run ok? the pcIII is tethered into the wiring harness and it doens't look easy to remove. i'm just trying to eliminate things to hide on this bike (as you all know it isn't easy) and if the bike will run the same without i'll chuck it. thanks everyone.
Your dealer should be able to download changes to your ecm, nothing you can do yourself. Harley has special codes to access due to EPA regulations. Sent you a pm.
Some will say you can remove the PCIII, some will tell you to go with the dealer download, but the best solution is to get SEST or TTS and a dyno tune.
SEST or TTS adds no extra hardware, so theres nothing you have to hide or reconfigure.
Like the guy said, your dealer can flash the ECU for about 150 bucks, but that has proven to offer no performance improvement and keeps engine too lean IAW EPA specs.
Removing the PCIII without adding SEST or TTS ain't a good idea because it's very likely you will damage your engine.
sest or tts? i know sest is screamin eagle something or other street tuner or something, but what's the tts and how does it not add any hardware? do tell....
TTS is the folks who used to make SERT for HD. Now HD makes their own and calls it SEST. Both are very much alike in that they add no hardware, but instead consist of only an interface cable and device plus the software.
You connect the interface, then via the software you make all the changes you want. Sounds sorta like how you use a PCIII, huh? Well it is, except you are programing the actual factory ECU, not adding a piggyback device.
The only real drawback is once you connect either SEST, SERT, or TTS they are forever married to just that ECU and cannot be used on a different ECU.

Guess no luck mounting that seat with the power commander? I was curious if you had figured out a way to mount it or not. I been thinking about buying a thundermax with auto tune or the sest. The thundermax I kind of like because of the fact all you have to do is load a close map and then it tunes itself the rest of the way from my understanding. It is actually replaces the ECM so it would eliminate spring seat mounting problems as well. I'm just not sure if I wanna spend 800 bucks on one but still looking at $400 for the Screaming Eagle Tuner and have to take it to the dealer and have them dyno your bike if you wanna get a good tune on it. Guess gonna be close to same amount of money. Haven't quite made up my mind yet but I do know my power commander is gonna go because I want a spring seat on my bike.

Yes, the Tmax replaces the ECU, but you still have it in the way of the seat. PLUS it comes with an autotune module that mounts on the frame behind the rear cylinder.
It is however a fantastic device. I have it on my '07 Road King and wish it would fit on my 2010 Iron.

Cowboys?!......Who are the Cowboys?......The question should be, "How bout dem Saints?"
no to get off subject too much but im from philly oinker so no matter what happens to us on sunday, when the cowboys lose we still have something to be thankful for. saints look good though, defense is beatable however, you just have to be able to match the scoring and they can be beat which we didn't do earlier in the season. we owe them one form last year in the playoffs so if we make it to 2nd round lookout. i got two words for the saints, desean jackson!
