Hi all again,
Interested to see opinions on upgrading an 883 to either a 1200 or 1250 kit. Any real difference with the extra 50cc's? Also can you give me an idea of how much the upgrade cost you. (I'm planning on having a shop do it)
//Thanks,
Rob
The only problem that I know of is that at 1250cc there really is no more room left to go bigger on the cylinders if you ever need to. That being said, I bought a 1250 kit myself. After all, there IS no substitute for Cubic Inches! Ha!
Thanks all, still kind of learning on this end but want to know what my options are down the road, seems like you can sink a ton of money into these things.
I dunno about the difference. My 1250 conversion kit arrived yesterday. Costs for pistons, cylinders, rings and gasket set was $700 plus shipping. I will do the install sometime during the next few days. Ordered from NRHS, Dan the owner, is very helpful there.
I got an estimate from the Harley Dealer that is running a special on engine upgrades. They quoted me $1,250, plus any incidental clamps etc that might be needed. That included labor, and was 25% off (both parts and labor) what they would normally charge.
