You guys are the best, I'll be sure to post a thread, "Donations, Fines 2B Paid!"
Maybe I'll take them out tonight. I think they are removable ('97 XLH1200).

Came across this, is it true?
"The stock exhaust pipes are rather restrictive, although they are not nearly so bad as many people think. Simply drilling a 1 to 1.5 inch hole through the baffles of the stock Harley pipes makes about 93% as much horsepower as the best pipes, and more horsepower than a rather embarrassing number of after market pipes."

A buddy of mine who is a custom builder in the area says that and a new air filter is almost as good as getting new pipes and air filter...plus it's a lot cheaper. He's going to do that to mine until I have the $500 to get a new set of pipes.

Wouldn't removing baffles, or drilling holes in them, and/or changing the air cleaner require re-jetting or re-timing? Just curious...

Drilling the baffles probably would not require rejetting. That plus a high flow air filter would probably require rejetting.
