I think that I bought mine from the J & P Cycles catalog. I have used mine about 5 times now on three different bikes. Two of my Sportsters and one of my friends Sportster. Not expensive.
I think they are pretty easy, if you have the tool to open up the clutch basket. Mine was replaced around 25,000 miles, but that was a warranty job. I watched a good part of the process. I didn't see anything I couldn't do myself if I have the tools.
It is extremely simple to do with the clutch tool. I have a 1250 kit and I wanted to put in a new set of clutch plates in anticipation of the extra horsepower that the new cylinders and pistons would bring. Piece of cake! Hey SportyPig, please post up after you are done with your upgraded 1250 engine mod and let everyone know how much you like the new found power! Good luck with your project and ride safe out there!
