Thanks for all the input guys - very helpful.

I haven't heard too much about the SE slip ons in the forums. Seems like a lot of people have the Rush's. They have them here with 2.00" baffles.

Rush Slash Downs

Reading that 2.00 may be a little loud so will look for 1.75 or 1.5 baffles.

Any thoughts on SE vs Rush?

Exhaust is subjective. You got to see it here as well. I like the SE slip-ons, but another guy didn't. I had the V&H Straightshots and thought they were too loud for what I wanted.

Audio on YouTube isn't that great, buy you might want to give that a shot so that you can hear some different pipes if you aren't sure.

I have the SE slip-ons and love them. Not too quiet, not too loud. Fairly straight forward install, just need new clamps if you don't want to reuse your old ones. They came with new crossover gaskets. If you are just doing the pipes, you don't need to reflash. If you are doing both you will need to do something. The combination increases the bike's VE and you will have to compensate for it, the ECM can only do so much. But this is a whole different topic, with a million different opinions. There are many products out there that can help, you just have to research and decide which one is right for you.

I've heard a few on Youtube and also on the Rush site - have to admit they sound good. I'm doing a bulk buy and will need to check if the store has the Rush's in stock.... really liking those right now.

I don't know where you live but the the times they are a changing. In the good old days you were able to run with anything. Now many towns, cities, and states are enforcing noise and epa regulations. My Ultra is the first bike I have ever owned with legal pipes ( the new SEs) on it because of the new enforcement. I have done other things to that bike so it isn't exactly legal but you can tell by looks or sound.
If you ever want to read something funny, read the EPA's regulations and fine schedule for motorcycle exhaust and emissions tampering.

I installed some Vance and Hines Straightshots HS Slip Ons on my 2010 Sporty last summer. The install took about an hour, and produced some very pleasing results. I bought them off ebay for about $250.

I'm planning on doing the Stage I upgrade this spring. I can either pay $1000 and let the dealer do it (PCV and Heavy Breather), or install a Vance and Hines Fuelpak with the Heavybreather for about $500. The savings alone is a substantial reason to go with the Fuelpak, and where I'm only interested in Stage I and not anything else, I'm better off.

Another plus is that I can get the Fuelpak now, and use it while I save for the air intake. When the intake arrives, just remap it myself. From what I've seen, Fuelpak is simple. That's why I'm going that route.

Hope this helps. We need pics of the bike!

Mandog - I live in Dubai and as far as I know there aren't any regulations. I don't want something too loud though - just increase the rumble and for safety. Sounds weird but people here aren't used to bikes around them so anything you can do to make yourself more noticeable is always good.

Think its gonna be the SE's as I need to do a bulk buy with a bunch of other stuff I need and to avoid mega shipping costs I'm going to do it from one dealer who only has the SE's.

All the input is much appreciated....

mtruland - pics when its up and running with all the mods cos right now its stock!

From the sounds of it, he doesn't really have a choice on the type of pipes...more of just wondering what all would go into getting the pipes and A/C and if he would need a remap.

Doesn't seem like the V&Hs come in black.. gotta have the black. I know you can paint them but not really going to go into all that hassle.

Are the SE's that bad????
