Default Fork Bag Question for a Custom

I have an 06 883C and was wanting to pick up a fork bag/pouch... just enough room for glasses and papers, etc.

I'm looking at the fork and think that it's pretty tight looking to mount even a small bag/pouch. Does anyone have any experiences or pics??

I just got one for my 03 883c and mounted it just below the headlight. It mounts with nylon straps and I've had no problem with it at all.

I mount a tool kit in mine on the lower part of the tree.

I had one on but ended up taking it off. I started to not like what it looked like.

Back when I first got my 1200C and it was 'stock' I mounted one of the Harley 10" wide leather fork bags that I had sitting around.

It fit perfect and has 2 leather buckle straps that fit around the lower tree.

It mounted high enough that it wouldn't rub on the front fender, and since it was mounted around the lower tree (and not the tubes) I didn't have to worry about it moving around during front fork compression..

Of course it won't fit any longer with the WideGlide front end, but it was handy and you could stuff quite a bit of stuff inside...

I would worry that it eventually would damage the paint on top of the fender. I don't have to worry though as I have a quick release windshield and my leather bag is on that.

I don't see how it would ever come in contact with the front fender....

Even with 'full fork compression' the fork bag isn't even close to coming in contact.. [sm=usa.gif]

I've got an '05 1200R and hang a fork bag of the lower tree as well. It never hits the fender and is worth its weight in gold!

I have a fork bag as well. It's just enough to hold things such as sunglasses, couple of extra spark plugs plus my cell phone and wallet if I had too.

It works beautifully. The only thing I'm concerned about is if the method this one uses to attach to the bike is failsafe. It's simply one leather strap that goes through two loops on the bag and then has a buckle (like a belt buckle) that holds it together.

I'm still a bit nervous about it. Maybe I'll strag some extra tie-wire around it or something.

Hit the fender?? Never. They're well worth the $.
