I have changed bars ,I went to reinstall the throttle and i cant get it to snap back or turn smoothly. does anyone know where to find a video or manual to show the correct assebly of this throttle so I can make sure i did it right,by the way it is a 2008 nightster. thanks.
When you reassembled the throttle grip, did you take care to correctly reassemble the throttle lock? Maybe it is dragging and preventing the throttle to turn smoothly..... Just a thought...
haveyou tried adjusting the cables? its under a little black sheath just past the bend comin out of the handle bar housing. just tighten and loosen them till it feels right. also make sure you put the right cables in the right position

can you put them in wrong?,I mean one seems bigger than the other and I did try to put them both in each hole but the one wwas to large in diameter.doe this make sense? it is a 08 nightster .
Yeah each throttle cable tip is different. you have to put the big one in the big hole and the small one in the small hole. also check that the grip has a little distance from the button housing. if you shove the grip too hard aginst the button housing it wont let it snap back.
The cables may need to be loosened up and/or you may have stuffed the throttle too far onto the bars and the tube is dragging on the end of the bars.
Thats exactly what it was ,I had the grip on too far and it was pressed against the bar end.funny how the littlest things never come to mind.thanks shovelhead, and thanks to everyone else for their input I knew i could count on the guys on this forum.I am suer i will have another question soon.
