Default internal wiring question

I was just wondering, when internally wiring your bars, where is the best place to cut the wires going to the handcontrols? Under the tank? Also should I use the same stock wiring wrap, or is it not necessary since the wires are now inclosed in the bars? Thanks

The easiest way I think to do it does not involve any cutting. You take the wires out of the connector on the handlebar side connector piece (I think it is the male half). Once you pull the wires through the bars just put the wires back into the connector and re plug up the 2 halves of the connector. If you do it this way make sure you draw a diagram of which wire goes in which slot in the connector so you put them back in right.

It should say in the service manual exactly how to take the wires out of the connector.

Hopefully the OEM wires will be long enuff to extend well below where they exit the bars.

...If so, then make solid soldier splices and stagger each about an inch. Insulate each wire splice, and then the whole loom with black heat shrink....reinstall OEM plugs and go.

I couldnt find out how to affectivly get the wires out of the connectors with out gettin Pissed Off.........so I just got 'em off the connector lol I have 16'' Apes and all my wires hung out about 3'' out the bottom of the bars. I then butt connected each wire to a plug and un plug connector (So I can disconnect all the wires individually if needed. I then heat wraped each wire and then put all of them in a Wire tube to cover them all.
