I have a 2006 883R, Ive had it about 4 months...she has about 6000 miles on her....and she is using a little oil. She doesnt smoke or leak....Where does it go? Is this normal?
It isn't normal for my 06. Pull your plugs and see if there is any indication of oil getting past your rings. Usually the plugs will tell the story but sometimes they won't as only a small amount of oil is getting past and getting burned off. If not there then double check your cases. Oil doesn't always hit the ground.
Your getting blow by. Don't fill your oil tank up to the top mark on the stick, Go about half way up it. ALL sporty's have this problem. My sweet spot is about 1/4 inch below half way.
PS, you may want to clean out your air filter / air cleaner. I bet you'll see where the oil went.

exactly...i keep mine at just a pubic hair above the add mark
funny story- when I first had my sporty, I checked the oil as anyone would. I had a b**ch of a time getting the dipstick/**** back into place. When I thought I had turned it enough, I went for a ride. Got off the bike after an hour and saw that the entire right side, from the oil tank back, was covered in oil. I almost s**t myself. I could see it was coming from the dipstick **** so I tried to tighten it again. I cleaned up the oil and started home. I stopped often only to find more oil everywhere! Long story short, I had to really turn the **** hard to get it to seat properly. It is almost impossible to turn it when hot. Lesson learned, i make darn sure it is in place before I take off.
Gremlins, they sneak in at night and use a hose to siphon it out and put it in the road when you are not looking.
Sneaky little bastards they are!
I live in Brazil so these little bastartds take more than that.....One my full tank of gas was gone......But no one saw anything in the garage.....and we have video cameras up.....guess those Gremlins are real sneaky...

That's how my 2003 883r is. If I fill it up to the top line it leaks out until it settles about 1/4 inch above the bottom line. Then it stays right there.
