Was reading a thread earlier, guy painted his engine black.. yada yada. LOOKS AWESOME by the way. Been wanting to get my stuff powder coated, but thats so much work, and I have also been waiting for someone to post a do it yourself to see how it looked. GREAT WORK MAN!!!!!!
I have a little cleaning up to do, but should be able to post some more pics tomorrow of the finished product. Letting the paint cure overnight, then gonna hit it again tomorrow and "bake" it a little.

That VHT Paint is awesome. Just did my friend's 09 Street bob (primary and exhaust) in the same paint. Looks awesome. IMO this is the BEST paint out there for exhaust. Ceramic powder coating is def better to me, but its a little pricey around here. This cost like 10 bucks at Advance Auto.

Its the best to me too...I just painted my exhaust rap black this weekend looks awsome i should have them on this week end i'll post pics soon.
Is the paint you used called VHT? And did you use a primer? My original powder coat is gone on my Nightster ( due to my painting errors) and I'm trying to make sure I do the next job right. The case is looking like bare metal now and pretty shiny thanks to me, sand paper and my Dremmel . . . Could use any advice other than go buy covers I can't afford right now.
I'll chime in here. Spent my life as a painting contractor. 90% of the job is in the prep.
What did you use as a primer ? Did you clean all parts and degrease them ?
Sometimes a mild etching w/ acid is needed. One major reason that paint fails on heated metal fequently, other than a lack of prep, is the different rates of expansion between metal, or any substrate, and the coating. Nobody has been able to completely resolve this issue for longevity.
