Default Screaming Eagle 2 Question

Hello I have some questions in regards to my 2008 XL1200 and a set of Screaming Eagle 2 mufflers.
What are my risks installing these mufflers without having the baffels in them.
Is there a ring or a plug that you can put between the enging and the pipe that will prevent me from needing to remap. I installed these mufflers once (without baffels) and the bike sounded spectacular but ran like crap.
It backfired and cut out something fierce. Heres the deal I cant really afford a remap and I dont really want to spend 80+ bucks for new baffels and more than likely need a remap anyway. Please help.

Thanks,
Sporty

you might be able to get away with putting a set of these thunder monster baffles in and get it to run right but they still cost 80 bucks. here is a link. http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/product-fit.html
Or you just make you some lollipops for your headpipes which you can make you self pretty cheap, this is basically all the thunder monster baffles are if you look at a set of them. Read this page and it will explain why you were popping and running like crap with open pipes and he shows how to make the lollipop about halfway down the page, Hope this helps you. http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/exhaust.htm

OK I found a set of baffels for the pipes and I installed a set of torque rings. The rings didnt quite fit so I had to cut the Harley gaskets in half to accomadate the new rings. The bike still back cakkles (especially in 2nd gear) I have had a few people tell me that it is running to lean and that if I dont remap I will burn up the pistons. Is this true?
