Default Laced wheel question

I apologize for what is probably a stupid question. I have just about 500 miles on my 06 883l. I was checking my tire pressure today and noticed the edge of the rims seen to stick out, from the bottom of the tire, about 1 or so mm's more on one side than the other. It's so minute that I had to feel it to verify. And even then I wasn't sure. These are laced wheels and the rims do stick out a bit from the bottom of the tire, but I'm not sure if it is ok if one side sticks out a bit more than the other. I'm not even sure that it wasn't an optical illusion either. It seems to be like this on both tires My front tire did need about 5 psi. I'd appreciate if anyone can answer or even understand my question.

thanks,
rob

Default RE: Laced wheel question

are you talking about the metal rim itself sticking out, or do you mean the rubber tire bead line not being centered evenly around the rim. It's it's the tire bead that's not properly centered on the rim it can be a safety isssue, Just need to remount the tires. Just go to the dealership and express your concerns, and they'll tell you if it requires any repair. Also if it is simply the bead being a little unevenly mounted, you'll be fine for riding, just avoid freeway speeds till you get it checked out. It's fairly common for new tires from the factory to be mounted slightly off due to quick mounting in an assembly line.............generally most poeple never notice it.
