Default Quick sissy bar question

I just bought my first HD, a 2007 1200C after owning several sport bikes and have a quick question.

Will this backrest http://atlanta.craigslist.org/wat/mcy/1676469636.html fit on my bike? It is off an 05 883C.

Thanks for the help.

i think so- but i would be sure by checking in with your local dealer. they will know for sure...
btw, my recollection is that you have to drop the shocks for the install. and i think you do one side at a time.

nice bike - got pics??

Cannot say for certain, but having previously owned a 2004 Sporty, my guess is that it should. I would suggest that you check out the parts section of the HD website. You should be able to figure out what the part number is for the uprights for the 05 Sporty and then see if they are designed to fit later models as well. But again, I would say they do.

I have to second the drop the shocks/rear wheel. You will never get the fixed sideplates on without dropping the wheel.

Thanks for the help. I checked on the HD website and it should be fine.

I'm on the road for work now but I will post some pics when I get back. I'm lovin the bike so far, I just have to get used to turning with out dragging in the corners.

Never really worked on a cruiser but I think I should be able to one shock at a time without and problems.

It should be fine. I just bought a sissy bar that was the rigid style and its for an 04 and up XL. And you will not need to drop the shocks. You have the two bolts that are visible. The forward has a 1/2 nut on the inside fender. The rear bolt has a nut plate on the inside fender. Where the light is on the inside of the fender you have a 1/2 nut that you have to move the light wire out of the way. Go to harleys website and search for the rigid mounting plates and it has the instructions for installation. Nowhere does it say you need to remove or drop the shocks or wheel.

I got fixed sideplates installed without doing anything with the rear wheel.

Just take your time. It is easy. Make sure you have some goo gone or something for when you remove the reflector.
