air cleaner question???

will air cleaner (intake) the backing plate off a 2003 xl1200 bolt on to a 2008 nightster.. will the bolt holes and the breather bolts line up? if so will the stock nightster cover fit over the backing plate and the filter?

I do not know for sure because I have not tried it out, but I would think that there might be a difference because the 2003 XL1200 has a carb and the 2008 XL1200N Nightster is Fuel Injected. If the backing plate from the 2003 XL1200 does end up fitting than I would think that the stock 2008 XL1200N Nightster air cover would end up fitting too. I know the backing plates will fit but the crank case breather is crap & may spit oil from time to time.

Go to your dealer and ask them tp drag out their parts manuals and look up the respective part numbers. If they're the same, that will answer your question.
