Default Injector and Carb Cleaner

Just wondering if anyone regularly adds a bottle of carb/injector cleaner to their tank? Would you recommend adding it at oil change time? Also I read somwhere about running your reserve to clean out nasty gas that might collect at the bottom of the tank. Will your reserve automatically fill from the main when you switch over? Thanks guys.

Default RE: Injector and Carb Cleaner

Injector cleaner really isn't necessary with todays gas. Most have cleaners allready in them. While running your reserve once in a while isn't a bad idea, the only difference in the reserve and the normal feed is a length of tube inside the tank that draws gas from higher up in the tank ( about 1 ")whereas the reserve will draw pretty much down to the bottom of the tank ( where all the junk is). The reserve gas and the Main gas feed are one and the same and draw from the same area of the tank, nothing to "refill". If you feel you have some contaminents in the tank, it would be advisable to remove and clean the tank rather than using the reserve to try to "flush" them out which will only cause you problems. Just from the movement of the bike , all the gas is pretty much mixed together and no gas collects at the bottom of the tank that is any different than the rest.
