My last bike was a 1994 FXR so I've been out of the scene for a while. Anyway I just bought a 2009 1200 Custom and am noticing that the tranny seems a bit loud when shifting. I recall having a similar problem with my FXR and switched to synthetic gear oil and it went away. Any thoughts on that? Also I keep hearing a ticking coming from the top end, I assume it's the fuel injectors (checked the oil already), are they really that loud!!!
I don't remember the ticking from the old school evo.... but it's been a long time! The bike sat at the dealer from Jan 09 until I bought a couple weeks ago.
they do "thunk" when they engage a new gear...
and yes its a noisey engine- cause its a sporty!!
have to admit that i dont hear the ticking that you are talking about but thats prob cause i dont hear much with my pipes! as long as you are running a good premium fuel you should not be getting any knocking- so my solution is you should change your pipes!!
Thanks for all the feedback. Now one more question that I've read a lot about on this forum. Baffles. I can't really spend the cash right now for some slipons. I've read about people removing the baffles, which I don't think is such a great idea. But most seem to think drilling a hole in the baffle is acceptable. Thoughts? What size hole?
