Might have the opportunity to pick up some Latigo Slant saddlebags for a reasonable price.
What extras do I need to fit to my 06 Sportster. I have looked in 'the Bible' and to do the job
properly it appears I may need:
You can go the cheaper route by locating a set of bags with a LONG, wide leather strap between them. These can go under the seat and pin by the rear seat bolt. Use a couple of discrete leather laces to hold the front of the bags to the frame so they don't butterfly. You need the spread to have them sit under the lights. The later models don't have the light interference, I think. This is a 91.
The result is utilitarian, which suits me fine because this gets me to work most days. My bags hold a rain suit and a bike cover at all times, with some room to spare.
Got the saddlebags yesterday for a third of the new price i.e GB ÂŁ175 instead of GB ÂŁ525. They seem in very good condition. They came with a connecting leather bit which I think is called a yoke. However the dealer said that I still need a part called Fender yokes part no 91125-04A. Is this the same thing as what I've already got? (he couldn't get a picture of them on his computer). They cost about ÂŁ80 so I'm reluctant to get them if they're the same. I've also ordered the turn relocation kit and saddlebag supports. If anybody's got pictures of these it would be useful to see.
Yep, just put saddlebags on my sportster - and after ALL the installation hassles..including turn signal relocation..dropping the rear shocks/wheel to get the stupid long *** bolts in..etc..I can honestly say I hate the look of them on my bike... [:'(]
I have the 53050-04A Rigid leather ones by the way. I am looking into some Easy Brackets so I can detach them unless I'm doing a longer trip - the bags really kill the clean look of the sportster and I wll either find a detach or lose them and go with a rack bag...nuff said - maybe I'll post a pic, er..maybe not..
I hear that, celtlion. That olive and black looks sharp, I'd hate to cover it up.

Celtlion, it looks like you've had to relocate the turn signals to the rear lamp cluster and this seems to be as shown in the HD catalogue with your saddlebags; my Latigo bags look as if the turn signals just need moving a little further back along the chrome side piece, but we shall see once I get all the parts from the dealer
Yes, I put the lay back license plate relo kit on mine because both of the fender bolts are used for installation. It sounds like yours will be easier to install and take off.
I like the look of the sporty with s/b. It's all about what you want. The best thing to do if you wanna know what you'll need for the job is to call the place where you're getting them from. They SHOULD know...hopefully.
