I really would love to go with RD King shocks but i just love the appearance of a bike with 9 inch struts....I dont think i could part with my struts.

Those RK shocks match the front fork boots perfectly. Pricey Progressive shocks, or some used RK's.....hmmmmmmm? I talked to my service guy about the RK's today, and his response was....."hell ya, that would be sick!"

Bolillo57...Did these bolt right up, or did you need to use some sort of spacers?

This is the thread that basically explains how to mount them up. I only added some 1/2" washers as spacers, that was all I added to clear the shock & belt guard. You will need a #50 Torx wrench for the shock bolt, everything else just falls in place.

What is the advantage of the air shocks over the progressive shocks?
The progressives come in any length you want, in half inch steps.
When you want to add someone on the back, you just adjust them, or if you want to firm up the ride for some fast sport action, you don't need to find an air compressor, and don't have to worry about blow outs....
Seems like it might be a pain that the only way to adjust the ride is with an air pump...

No compressor needed, the shocks hold just a little air that the hand pump is all you need. Use a compressor and most likely you will blow a seal/bladder. In my shocks I only run 5lbs of air and that was just like 3-4 strokes of the pump.

The think the answer to your question is people are cheap. You can buy 8 sets of used RK shocks for what 1 set of good shocks cost.
Personally I don't mix shocks from one bike to another it's dangerous to do. I do modify shocks for a particular bike but not hang something off another bike to save a buck.
