I used to run the velocity stack without any oil drain hoses and I'm tired of having my leg and the rear end of the bike covered with oil every time I stopped. (PIC.#1)I decided to put some clear hoses and a Y connector to drain the oil under the bike. It still spewed oil everywhere and now it's draining in the path of the rear tire(BAD NEWS BEARS). I avoided the hose and the breather that came with the stack, but I decided to use it vs. looking like an Exxon oil spill victim. (PIC.#2/#3)I'm using the breather as an oil catch or drain. I hate how big the breather looks, and this is the stealthiest that I can get it without running a longer hose and tucking the breather near the exhaust bend. It's not bad, but I know someone has a better suggestion. Any aftermarket solutions? Can I see some pics. of what you guys did? Does the breather have to be downwards or can it be upright? Any suggestions?
If your getting that much blowby I think that filter is going to get filled up with oil and start dripping just as much as before.
Personally I would run the vent hoses UP from both cylinders to a "T" (much like picture #1 but up rather than down) then from the "T" run another hose up as high as possible maybe under the tank and locate the filter up as high as possible. That way when the oil laden vapor travels up the hose and out the filter any excess oil can run back down the hoses and back into the heads.
You do know that this is only going to get worse until you rebuild the engine right?
Man, i have to say if your getting that much oil spitting out that there has to be something wrong. Either overfilled oil, or an issue with the heads....be sure the lower rocker cover has the umbrella valves on the correct sides. The oil coming through the breathers should really be in light vapor form that will easily vent, it shouldn't be spitting. I have the same little breather filter that I have mounted just under the carb with each end going to the seperate breather ports and thats it, no seperate drain line to go under the bike. The filter is perfectly dry, and i've never had any oil blowout from it. So like I said, i gotta think you have another issue brewing here.
Took the new set up on a test ride. I really gunned it on the FWY and did some street, too. The hoses were dry and so was the breather. There were still some drops of oil in the same spots, so it's not the blow back. I'll take it, but there has to be something else. I'll check what you guys said. Anybody else have this issue?
I've had an on and off leak. At first I thought it was coming from the primary (gear oil). Then the oil spots were dark (motor oil). I have no idea as I can't really find where it's coming from and it's not a continul leak.

+1
Thats a lot of blow by, plus with a velocity stack your not getting the intake vacuum to suck it out. (Unless?) The mount you have, has oil/vacuum ports threw the banjo bolts into the stack?
Like was said-there should not be near that much blow by. Also no AC is bad news on the street. I took my stock AC out after like 12K miles and it was black and had bugs and what not on it-that is going into your engine-Not good. As for the breather tubes I would run them up by the tank like Hot Lap said and see how that works out, but over all there is a bigger issue here.
Alright, so i set up the breather and I found the oil leak. The oil spray has been reduced about 80% by the breather set up, but I found the oil leaking from the front engine rocker cover. It's a small leak but with the speed, it sprays all the way back to the oil and battery cover. The local shop said it's just old gaskets. I bought all 3 gaskets needed for the job. Does anyone have a how to on this? Should I just send it to the mechanic? What say you?
