sorry, this is my first time logged in. i seen this thread and am looking for instructions for the sportster ignition relocation kit because drag does not list it
It is a pretty simple mod to do on your own with your own parts. All I had to buy for my scoot was another short (rear) spark plug wire and a few nuts and bolts from the hardware store. I will try to get some pics up tomorrow to show you what I did.
yeah i'd like to move my ignition as well back towards the seat on the same side as it is now, doesn't look too involved. can't wait to see the pics fish.
Here is what I did. Nothing real hard or extravagant. Just made a bracket out of some stainless steel strap I had laying around, welded a tab on it to mount the coil, put a few bends and holes in it and had it powder coated wrinkle black.
It took me the whole afternoon to completely mock everything up (I say mock up because I had to take the bracket to my powdercoat guy). This includes making the new relocation mounting bracket, removing the big ugly plastic wire hiding crap under the tank, separating the wire harness and rerouting the wiring to allow for the new locations of the components and taping everything up and trowing wire-loom on everything to tidy things up and make it look good.
I only removed the front bolt of the gas tank and lifted it up to tuck up the wiring and get it out of plain sight. I didn't want to do a tank lift because I like to lower profile look.
