Default Another Coil Relocation

Yes, I know there have been several write-ups regarding coil relocations. When I did my temporary relocation (to the bolt that holds the injector bracket), I said I would be fabricating something new and would post something so here it is...

I wanted a solid mounting point for the coil but there were not a ton of options available. I thought about the stock horn bracket found on older sportsters and big-twins. This is what I ended up with using 1/8" thick 3/4" wide flat stock...

Only have a 90amp flux core welder right now so the welds aren't too pretty...

Overall, this was very quick and easy to do. You can get the flat stock from Home Depot or Lowes for a few bucks, cut your lengths, place some bends into the stock, drill a few holes, weld (or bolt) the two sections together, apply some paint, and you are good to go...

Looks good but its not thick enough I will be surprised if it don't break under 500 miles. I paid hell getting mine right. I ended up buying a horn/choke mount and welded a tab to it. Never broke again.

Yeah, I can try to put one together for you. May take a week or two though.

What part were you having issues with breaking? By far the weakest point on it is the welds.

Make another one out of 3/4"x1/4" flat stock.
You can pick up a 3ft. stick of it at TSC or the hardware store rather than buying a full stick at a metal wholesaler.

Much easier to massage the metal if you have a blue wrench.
