Default just need some confirmation...

I'm relocating my coils on my nightster to the left side of the engine... I HAVE a manual, but just to confirm, it looks like the two mounting bolts (bolts for the side mounted horn bracket) only serve the purpose of mounting the bracket to the motor correct? I know it's a stupid question but I'd rather ask first then start unscrewing things and end up cracking seals or something like that.

Thanks!
D

Those dont hold the head on, and Yes you can mount a bracket to it for horn or coil....

I bought longer bolts from the dealership. The stock bolts on the nightster are just there to fill the holes. Bikes with the horn bracket stock have longer bolts. About 1/2 inch longer I think.

The bolts that are there just filling the holes are pleanty long enough to hold a thin metal bracket. I made a bracket out of 1/8 in. aluminum and everything mounted fine.

great thanks for the confirmation... I had my torx bit in hand and thought I'd better ask (even though I ultimately knew the answer).

My bracket is 1/4" so we'll see if there is enough length to bolt it on there.

thanks again!
