Default Breather Question

Just about to re route my breather so that it does't go into the air cleaner, but my first question is if I route it down under the bike, can I just use an open pipe, or do I need some sort of filter on the end? and second question, at the moment the outlets on the banjo bolts are facing up, so the breather head uphill to start with, do they need to be like this, or can I turn them down? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I had mine routed up and down at different times. They were down when I routed the tubes under the ac towards the back of the bike. Now they are up with the filter adn tube routed forward coming out just behind the front tire and I have had no problems at all.

I personally used a filter simply to limit oil going under my bike or onto my brakes or tires if I got blowby.

Mine is open at the end with no problems, the banjo bolts facing up is actully better as liquid oil is more likley to drip back into the engine rather than down the hose but I don't think it matters too much either way.
