SE ignition problems
Hi folks, looking for a little help here.
Before this 1999 bike was striped down over the winter, it had an SE ingnition installed and ran perfect.
The engine has been put into the frame and wired for the ignition side only to see if were getting a spark, when i hit the button the plugs only spark once, the wiring has been checked by 4 differant people who have built these bike before and all agree its wired correctly. So we thought the ignition module was goosed, so i bought a new one and fitted it and it still only sparks once.
I am getting conflicting stroies about these units, some pepole say, just plug it in and it should work, others say it needs programing, but no one can tell me how to do this.
I have been told if i get a standard harley ignition unit and plug it in it will work.
The new unit is £251.00 plus VAT.
So my question is, has any one had this problem before and managed to get it sorted?
And before i buy a standard harley 1, is there any other makes out there which are cheaper, and just, plug in and go.
Many Thanks
Stewart

Are you using a bank angle sensor?? If so it could be bad causing no spark. If not using a B.A.S. then the Light Green/gray wire needs to be grounded so module will fire.
I installed a p/n 32466-98a SE module in my 1970 FL with the matched coil and it works great. Hope this helps.
p.s. unless there is some kind of plug interface (thats not visible).... usb,mini-usb or din, these modules dont need programming.

Just red your reply and before i take it back i will try your theory, as i am not using a B.A.S.
I will let you know if it works.

P.S I used a standard back plate with an external module and the bike fires fine, so i know its not the wiring.
Many thanks

Not sure if external module type wiring is the same as the single module wiring.
The single module should have 5 wires
Black= ground
Pink= coil - neg
LtGreen/gray= BAC or to ground if no BAC
White= Positve 12v (switched)
Purple/White= VOES connection
When I installed mine on the FL it would not fire til I grounded the LT Gr/gray wire
