Driving down I-95 to stamford CT and i hit a few bumps and my chrome battery cover from my 04 1200 custom goes flying through the air behind me (in decent traffic). I swerve off immediately and start running down the shoulder 1/8 of a mile back like a nut to try and recover it and it is crushed to a pancake by some semi.
$70 for a new aftermarket one. What a peice of junk H-D designed.
Luckily nobody got hurt. My friends wife had hers come of (1200) on 295 in Richmond, did not hit anybody but the cover got damaged bad.
Seems like the covers on the Dyna's are just as bad too.
Got to check the fasteners before you leave.
I rode through there (95 Conn) this weekend, was tempted to take my helmet off like everybody else. Kept going though and yes the highway is **** through there.
3 minutes to drill a hole through the clip and drop a .02 zip tie through the hole. never had a problem after that. Learned that trick after searching on here and seeing the solution.
in all fairness to HD, there's not a lotta stuff that'll hold up to a semi truck.
you really shouldn't leave your stuff laying around on the expressway like that.
Poorly designed cover. I don't expect the cover itself to be semi-proof haha. And i did pick it up. Risked my neck running out into the middle of the highway to grab it too.

Your a good person, i've seen so many people throw lesser things out their windows on purpose!
