Default cant see through mirrors

Please excuse my name. its not really accurate any more. I had a sporty, sold it and had a street bob, and here i am back again having sold the bob and bought another sporty. Just couldnt get on with a dyna. Anyway. my question. I cant see out of my mirrors, is there a fix for this problem? maybe longer mirror stalks, or different mirrors altogether. Every time I want to look in the mirror, I have to crouch down and move my arm in, any advice would be appreciated.

I had to move my mirrors quite a bit from where they were when I bought it. I loosened them and pushed the stems away from me and then adjusted the actual mirror heads in. It sounds weird, but I had to adjust them much furthur out than I ever thought. I can now see pretty well behind me

MidWest XL is right. Push the stalks further forward and then adjust the mirrors so you can just barely see your shoulders in each mirror. Might seem odd at first but as you ride you will realize that you are able to see what is behind you plus you will have a much better perifial view of the rear.

This is also a problem most people commit with their cages. They have their mirrors set so they can see the car behind them in all three mirrors which doesn't make sence. Push the side mirrors further out so you can just barely see the side of your car and you will have a much better idea of what's going on behind you.

I didn't know the mirrors were actually suppose to work when you were moving... [sm=biker.gif]

I had a set of aftermarket mirrors and they were a pain to see especially with drag bars. Had to go back to stock mirrors and I can see a little better but, I find myself moving my arm or body just to see far enough behind me. You are not alone.

Actually I did the same as the others mentioned....

Moved the stems outward, readjusted the mirrors, and tightened everything down.

Not a "crystal clear" picture behind you while at speed, but clear enough that you can keep an eye on traffic, tell what type of vehicle is coming up on you, and check for flashing red lights. LoL.

Wow, I wish I could see out of my mirrors!! The drag bar really increased the vibration in the handle bars so I don't really mind looking at my shoulders all blurry. I prefer to see everything with my eyes anyway, not through a reflection.

I'm a pretty big guy and had this same problem when I bought my bike. I bought the extensions and that helped a little bit. When I talked to the dealer about it the guy basically said that the bars simply weren't wide enough for me and that would be the ultimate fix. I'm sure there's aftermarket stems out there that are longer, but with the extentions and a little patience, I managed to get them adjusted to where I could see well enough to be safe.
