wat the hells the chance of the Harley dealer pinching the seal 3 times. this is the fourth time ive gotten it back each time it takes em a week to get around to it
i took my bike in about four weeks ago to get the head gasket changed since it was seeping. they changed all the seals on the top end and i got it back a week later. well on the way home it spewed oil out all over the bike and my leg. took it right back to em. another week later got it back and the same thing after about 50 miles. and this last time it was better it just had a small leak better but still WTF.
got it today but had to bring it home in the truck.
praying its all taken care of this time
I've got a 2008 XL1200R Roadster and have had the head gaskets replaced twice already under the original warranty, the last just before it ended. The dealer told me was a common problem because original gasket wasn't good enough, so my question is then, if they supposedly replaced with an upgraded gasket the first time, why did it leak again within the next 1000 to 2000 miles again? (first repair was around 6k miles). The heads on mine are the blacked out, mat/rough surface and they said the design was part of causing the problem, because where they meet has kind of a rough edge to them, not smooth like the chromed heads. Now that it is out of warranty, hoping this does not continue. When i first brought in, they said this was a $500 job normally, that was being covered under warranty. But when I saw their computer screen show my bikes repair history on it when I brought it in when was leaking again, it showed they only charged this at about $150, so will be interesting what they are going to do if this happens again. I will argue this has been a defect that was never really fixed, and if I did pay, I only want to pay the $150 that was charged to the warranty.
Yea if it leaks again im taking it to another shop and having the old shop cover the cost. iv already told the shops manager this and he said thats fine
