I wonder the same thing about the ride. I have some old pictures of the old bike and have held them up to the computer screen (I know: Crazy) and the seating position of the old FXE looks a little lower than the 1200R but similar to the 1200L and 1200C. The rake on the front forks looks the same although I doubt if I could tell the difference between a few degrees difference in angle. The tank looks the same. The space between the engine and the frame looks similar. The shocks look the same length. The handlebars look similar.
I read in the same article where I got the specs of the old FXE that it was an FLH (Electraglide) frame with the Sportster forks.
Thank you for all the suggestions. Looks like I'll be waiting until the 3rd week of October before either Stealership has a sportster coming in. At least this way (the wait) it lets me be sure this is what I want to do.
Hey Brett, my wife's Sportster is due in Oct 1 at Rt 66. Call Michael over there good guy. They had a black 1200 L in the back that was for sale last weekend when I was there but my wife wanted the Cobalt Blue.
of course its just another opinion......But, I would say go for the 1200 if you cant afford the dyna or softie.... Your appreciate any extra power that it has......
