The weatherman said 30% chance of rain yesterday and even though the sky looked like it was ready to let loose I decided to take a chance. It was misty most of the ride in but only felt the sting of a few actual rain drops. The rain held off all day and the low 70's temp. made for a great ride home. After the first few miles I noticed a little more spunk from the V twin. Maybe it was just me or maybe the cold air effected the voodoo that is a carborated V twin. In any case more than a few times I felt the road lick the bottom of my heals in the twisties. I was so glad I took a chance.
I only pay attention to the weather report when it is above 70% chance. Hell the other day it had 100% chance of rain all day, so I drove may car, and all it did was drizzle a little bit on the way home, big woop, I could have rode easily.
I have just about stopped listening to weather reports... I bring up a weather map... put it in motion and figure it out for myself...
A little rain never hurt anyway... well except for the clean up afterwards.. lol
I wonder what the weather reports would sound like if the reporter was a biker...
On the performance of your bike... yeah... motors love the cool weather and you probably did feel that difference... Has something to do with cool molecules pack closer together... or some such science as that... lol
It's hit or miss with the rain I think. When I do check the weather, I go to The Weather Underground though, it's usually more on the mark than local news channel or yahoo weather. Yahoo will say something like 40% chance and The WU will say partly cloudy.--Joey
I came across weather underground a few months ago and I agree that it does seem to be a little more accurate than weather.com. No riding to work in the Northeast today. Looks like quality time with the family this weekend.
But yeah, I don't especially like riding in the rain, and you do have to be more careful of the road surface. Also, feeling like a wet sponge isn't fun but stuff like that happens from time to time..... [sm=shades.gif]
looks like it will be a nice ride all weekend, But monday you might want to pack your rain gear for the ride home... Tuesday will be a bit cool in the morning might want to throw on an extra t-shirt underneath, the afternoon ride home will be quite nice though... It will be a little cloudy on wednesday but don't fret it will make for a nice shady ride... The rest of the week will be quite nice, except for a mild shower come saturday morning... but thats ok, you'll probably be cleaning your bike getting ready for a saturday night ride anyways...
